Today, Patty Hajdu (Minister of Indigenous Services) on behalf of immigration minister, Sean Fraser announced signing of the new Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement.

This new Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement under International Experience Canada (IEC) is anticipated to come in effect for IEC 2024 season.

As soon as it is ratified by both nations, the Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement will become operational.

According to the Census of 2021, there are 144,055 people living in Canada who can trace their roots back to Finland.

Through this bilateral agreement, Finnish youth aged 18 to 35 will be able to travel and work in Canada.

Similarly, Canadian youth will also be able to work and travel in Finland.

IEC has three categories; Working Holiday visa, International Co-op (internship), and Young Professionals.

For IEC 2023 Canada has set aside quota of 90,000 foreign nationals from 35 eligible countries to come to Canada and earn while traveling.

This year, 74,226 invitations have already been sent out by Canada to youth from different countries under the IEC Working Holiday visa category.

Because to this most recent agreement with Finland, Canada will have mobility agreements for young people in place with a total of 36 nations and territories.

What is IEC – International Experience Canada?

The International Experience Canada (IEC) program is a two-way exchange that gives young people from 35 countries the opportunity to work and travel in Canada.

Similarly Canadians can also work and travel to these 35 countries.

When will new Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Program start?

New Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement that will fall under the International Experience Canada (IEC) is expected to become operational for IEC 2024 season.
